The 50.3 kWh battery, the claimed 461 km, the 177 bhp and 280 Nm motor that our listing says launches “with a straight-backed shove that costs a performance badge twice the price to match” — all carry over unchanged, which is the launch sheet’s own framing of it.

What a special edition is for, in a market this crowded, is attention. The ZS EV’s recorded problem is that its platform age shows in the details: the single-speed drivetrain fades past 100 km/h, the soft suspension fidgets at 120, the DC charge window of roughly 50 minutes to 80 percent is modest against the new arrivals, and the real-world highway range trails the badge. A gloss-black treatment on the marque’s strongest-selling electric model buys a news cycle without asking engineering to fix any of that. Whether the premium is worth ₹1 lakh of range money — a tenth of the entry Excite’s price — depends entirely on how much the buyer values the exterior.

The spec, since it is not a new spec
